PROJECTS
We were founded with the mission to transform underutilized sites into regenerative, community-owned destinations that pair Northern Michigan’s natural beauty with lasting economic resilience. Every project we pursue is designed to grow local talent, shared ownership, and bring whole-systems thinking into spaces that improve community and ecology.
Empire : Lake Street Community Development
Our flagship venture the Lake street development is now moving from early concept into early fundraising phases. We’re inviting mission-aligned investors, partners, and future co-op members to help bring this vision to life, transforming an under-utilized property into a thriving destination that feeds, heals, and inspires; while keeping the value rooted locally.
Lot Size: 5 Acres
Proposed Programs: Grocery Store, Cafe, Bar, Restaurant, Event Space, Community Gardens, Greenhouse, Spa & Healing Center.
Jobs Created: 50+ year round jobs
Sustainability Goals: Carbon negative by year 3
Ownership Model: Community COOPs and Perpetual Purpose Trusts
A community-owned campus that marries Northern Michigan’s natural beauty with next-generation sustainability—showcasing how place-based economics can regenerate land, culture, and livelihoods in tandem.
Proposed Details
Bioregional Stewardship
Every venture operates as an employee and resident-owned cooperative tied to our local bioregion. Profits feed a shared community fund dedicated to trail restoration, youth apprenticeships, resilient energy upgrades, and micro-grants for neighboring makers. By converting everyday commerce into locally governed equity and reinvestment, we nurture an economy that regenerates land, livelihoods, and culture, all within the ecological boundaries that make Northern Michigan so amazing.
Invest in Empire
A Regenerative Approach to Development
We design every element as part of a living system, capturing solar energy, re-cycling grey water, sourcing materials that sequester carbon, and returning organic waste to soil. This closed-loop logic extends to economics as well: Co-operative ownership keeps wealth local, while social-impact metrics guide continuous improvement. The result is development that actively restores ecosystems, strengthens community resilience, and generates enduring value for generations to come.
We don't have all the answers, but are willing to put in the work to solve the hard problems. If you would like to help support our vision in any way. Or have any questions about the project or what we do, please don't hesitate to reach out!
